Polio immunization drive kicks-off amid

ZHOB: The three-day anti-polio drive kicked-off amid strict monitoring of a federal team in bordering town here on Monday. The drive amid massive field visits of a federal monitoring team would be continued till Nov 22nd, 2017 followed by a catch-up day of missed children.

RRU National Emergency Operations Center for polio eradication Dr. Tufail inaugurated the drive by administering anti-polio drops to children at the newly established District Polio Control Room (DPCR) here.

DHO Dr. Muzzafar Shah, DDHO Dr. Zahid, N-Stop Officer Dr. Amin, Communication Officer UNICEF (DHCSO) Samad Hariphal and PEO Dr. Iqbal were also present of the occasion. RRU NEOC Dr. Tufail termed the drive a noble cause and stressed upon the need of zero tolerance during the campaign to eradicate the crippling disease, adding the officials and health workers showing leniency would face strict action, he warned.

“We need to make sure that each and every child below five years of age is vaccinated against the crippling disease polio”. It is the national obligation of every citizen to ensure that the immunization campaign is successful. For the purpose he said all available resources are being utilized to stave-off the paralyzing disease. NEOC official vowed.

Communication Officer UNICEF Samad Khan Hariphal said that total 66253 children would be administered anti-polio drops and a dose of vitamin-A supplement, adding total 187 mobile teams have been constituted, while 43 fixed centers, 7 transit and one border points have been established in the district to administer polio drops to children in every nook and corner of the district, the officials added.
