LAKKI MARWAT: Pakistan People’s Party central executive committee member and former federal minister Anwar Saifullah Khan has said that why Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz realized the need of grand dialogue at a time when Sharifs are passing through accountability process.

Talking to local journalists at the residence of Khanzada Ahmad Jan Khan in Begukhel, he said that when circumstances were in their favour, they did not talk about any grand dialogue because at that time they were engaged in grilling and humiliating PPP leaders in fake corruption cases and even former President Asif Ali Zardari was not spared.

He said that the PPP would not become a part of any move aiming to protect the corruption of Sharif family. “The PPP leaders and workers rendered great sacrifices for democracy in the past and they know how to protect and strengthen it in future”, he added. He made clear that his party would be in forefront in case it felt any danger to the democracy, parliament and constitution.

“We want democracy to flourish and democratic institutions to strengthen in the country”, he remarked. He urged the need for bringing end to deprivations and injustices in smaller provinces, saying that the dream of civilian supremacy can be made true by good governance, provision of free and quick justice and sustainable development. Former PPP district president Khanzada Ahmad Jan Khan, district councilor Shafqatullah Khan, chief of Khoidadkhel Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Nawab of Chowkijand Haji Saifullah Jan Khan also accompanied him.

To a question about possibility of electoral alliance with JUI-F Mr Saifullah said that they had kept the options open and any decision to that effect would be made with consultations of area elders. He said that PPP would give a tough time to political rivals by fielding strong candidates from all constituencies in southern districts.

Meanwhile, in an address to public gathering in Begukhel village, Mr Saifullah said that he faced arrests and imprisonment during former dictator Musharraf’s regime for providing jobs to thousands of youths. “But my entire political career is free from corruption and malpractices as I did not sell jobs and uplift schemes”, he maintained. He announced installation of a water supply scheme and ten pressure pumps run by solar power system in Begukhel and Kurrum Par Area.

He also promised launching electrification schemes in PK-76 (Lakki Marwat-III). He assured that availability of funds for construction of small dams would be ensured if he was voted to power in next general elections. “The construction of small dams will help control floods and overcome shortage of water for irrigation purpose”, he said. He appreciated PTI-led provincial government for ensuring availability of medicines of public sector hospitals and recruitment of teachers to government schools on merit. The PPP leader said that his opponents lacked vision to put the southern districts on track to progress and development. He said that PPP would form government in centre and provinces by clean sweeping next general elections. “Our party has the capability to change the lot of people and make country to stand in a better position in comity of world nations”, he added.
