PR commits to enhance capacity of HR

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways is actively involved in enhancing the capacity of its human resource through the implementation of Triple Helix Model wherein PR is associating with the academia for human resource development.

In this regard a high level delegation of Ministry of Railways, headed by Habib Ur Rehman, Secretary and Chairman, Pakistan Railways, visited Pak Austria Fachhochschule – Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology on Thursday.

Dr. Nasser Ali Khan, Rector of the Institute, briefed the delegation about the unique concept behind the establishment of the Institute and explained that the basic slogan of the Institute was “Skilling Pakistan” and as such the Institute would be willing to enter into a sustainable relationship with PR for designing and conducting training courses for PR officials.

He said the university had already establishment the Center of Excellence in Railway Engineering and had engaged Mr. Muhammed Ishfaq Khattak, an experienced and professional railway expert to head the Center.

Ishfaq Khattak said that the Center of Excellence in Railway Engineering was the first of its type in Pakistan and it is already planning to start a MS Degree Program in ‘Railway Systems Engineering’ from fall semester of this year. He further said that the Center is already developing and designing focused training modules for personnel in the railway sector, specially Pakistan Railways.

He said that this was a good opportunity for both the organizations, both in public sector, to go for committing to long term association in the vital field of human resource development of PR.

The delegation was given a tour of the modern training facilities of the university and briefed about the working of smart classroom.

PAF is the only university in the country where they have such advanced facilities for training. Arif Baloch, Additional Secretary MOR, Rao Waqar Shahid, DG, Railway Walton Academy, Lahore, and Saqib, Advisor, Human Resource, Pakistan Railways, also accompanied the Chairman Railways.
