PTI to win all LG seats in Dir: Minister

F.P. Report

TIMERGARA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for sports, culture and irrigation and PTI divisional president Mehmood Khan has said the corrupt rulers would be chased until they returned the plundered money to the country.

He was addressing a party gathering at Kambat Samar Bagh the other day wherein a JI activist Sarfaraz Khan announced to join the PTI along with dozens others. The function was also addressed by the PTI Lower Dir president Bashir Khan, PTI candidate for tehsil council seat Sarbiland Khan, Ubaid Ali Shah and others.

Mehmood Khan alleged that Rs 5 billion were plundered in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during previous government while the National Accountability Bureau received only Rs 250 million through plea bargain and set free the culprits. Without naming the ANP leadership, he said the PTI led government ended the easy load culture in the province and recruited thousands of youth purely on merit.

He said the NA-4 victory in the by-election had proved the PTI could not be defeated by mere slogans. The minister expressed anger on supply of electricity to parts of Jandol turn by turn and said it was the failure of federal government and Pesco authorities. He also blamed the JI chief Siraj ul Haq and other local lawmakers for people grievances in Dir. He asked the people of Dir to vote for the PTI candidates in the upcoming local government by elections. The minister said the problems of Dir could not be resolved until the people vote for the PTI candidates. Sarbiland Khan is contesting election for tehsil council seat from Samar Bagh. The post was vacated when he parted ways with the JI and joined the PTI.

Earlier inaugurating the PTI candidate election office at Shamshi Khan Talash, the minister said that the LG by election to be held on Dec, 21 would be won by his party candidates. He said the people were trusting in the PTI policies and its reform agenda in the province. The PTI candidate for tehsil council seat Fazal Wahab also spoke on the occasion. The tehsil council seat in Talash fell vacant when tehsil councilor Inayat ur Rehman quitted the JI and joined the PML-N in April this year. Both the coalition partners, the JI and PTI are in the run for two tehsil council seats in Lower Dir. The election is scheduled to be held on Dec, 21.

Uplift schemes: The government contractors in Lower Dir have threatened to stop work on the ongoing uplift schemes due to non-availability of funds for them. The contractors including Bagadar Zeb, Riaz Shuib, Jehangir Khan, Shabir Ahmad and Hayat Khan while speaking at a news conference at Timergara alleged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and its finance ministry had badly failed to release funds for development projects.

They said that construction work on 70 per cent projects had already been stopped as there had been no funds for those schemes. They complained that the government was tendering new projects while the contractors’ community had no funds for their work done on previous projects. They threatened to halt work on all ongoing projects if the government failed to release funds by Dec, 30.
