Recent attacks aimed to sabotage polls

KABUL: President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani has said 2018 is the year of election and the militant attacks would not force the government to retreat from its plan of holding parliamentary elections in the country.

Speaking to journalists late Monday, the president said the recent terror attacks in Kabul and other incidents were aimed at pressurizing the government to divert its attention from holding peaceful elections and restore peace to the country.

He said the government introduced special facilities for the journalists in access to information.

He said cases of violence against journalists would never be delayed in any government department and would be resolved timely, adding no one was above the law and the government officials who refuse to give information to journalists would be sacked. The journalists apprised the president of their problems.
