LAHORE: Istehkam-e-Pakistan Tehreek (IPT) on Wednesday served the newly-formed Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) with a legal notice over illegally using party’s name.

IPT chief Ahmad Kaleem served the notice to IPP patron-in-chief Jahangir Tareen and president Aleem Khan stating that it was an open breach of the Election Act 2017 to steal the name. “IPT is not just a party but an ideology that is an emblem of stable Pakistan,” it added.

The IPT was registered on May 17, 2022, it said.

The notice also gave a seven-day deadline to the IPP to change its name which was in accordance with its ideology.
