TCKP holds seminar

PESHAWAR: Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) Thursday arranged a seminar of private and government sector stakeholders to conduct 7000 surveys in Abbottabad, Manshera, Swat and Dir districts of the province aimed at promoting tourism industry.

The seminar was held in collaboration with ERKF Project of World Bank and Multi Donors Trust Fund.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Tourism Muhammad Tariq said that the provincial government’s efforts had increased the number of tourists creating socio-economic opportunities for local people.

He said after survey all the compiled data would be available online which would highlight implications of the government’s efforts regarding improvement of tourism industry. He appreciated endeavors of the corporation in improving tourism sector.

MD TCKP, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said that all their efforts were aimed at strengthening the national and the provincial economy, and to explore beauty of KP for attracting tourists.

Seminar participants discussed various matters including promotion of tourism industry, capacity building of artisans, upgradation of infrastructure, investment in tourism sector and preservation of national heritage.

The surveys intend to collect data of tourists in Galyat, Naran, Kalam and Kamrat and impact of tourism on local and national economy.

Secretary Tourism, Tariq Khan, Additional Secretary Tourism, Babar Khan, MD Tourism Corporation, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and representatives of ERKF and stakeholders from private and public sector were present on the occasion.
