Uploading immoral, objectionable contents: PTA submits report to PHC

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) submitted report regarding censoring immoral and objectionable contents from uploading to Tik Tok app before Peshawar High Court, on Wednesday.
PTA Director Technical Muhammad Farooq, PTA’s lawyer Jahanzeb Mehsud, Assistant Director Jawad and Deputy Attorney General Asghar Kundi appeared before two-member comprising of Chief Justice PHC Justice and Justice Ijaz Anwar in writ filed by Muzaffar Nazish and Sara Ali Khan Advocates seeking to stop uploading immoral and objectionable material on Tik Tok app.
The report stating that a Focal Person has been appointed for the purpose and a mechanism is also established to stop minor from using Tik Tok app. The report added that Tik Tok app has closed across the country on directives of federal government in this regard. The report further added that a mechanism is developing for curtaining uploading of immoral materials on Tik Tok because amount of unethical contents are increasing day by day.
The report further stated that Focal Person will coordinate among social media platforms regulator and the authority to stop uploading of immoral and objectionable contents on the platforms. The report further claiming that maximum users of Tik Tok app belonging to age group of 14-18 years in Pakistan and a mechanism has been developing to stop minor from opening amounts on the platform.
The two-member bench comprising Chief Justice PHC Justice Qaiser Rashid and Ijaz Anwar adjourned further hearing, moreover it is worthy to mention that in previous year Peshawar High Court had imposed ban on Tik Tok app and now Sindh High Court had also ban services of the app.
