Varsities to focus on provision of quality education: Governor

PESHAWAR: The Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that universities should focus on the provision of quality education based on research, as it is the need of the hour and can play pivotal role in the development and advancement of the country.

He was presiding over the 8th senate meeting of the Bannu University of Science and Technology here Wednesday at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister Shah Muhammad Khan, Principle Secretary to Governor Munir Azam, Secretary Higher Education, Vice Chancellor of the University and other members of the senate. The Governor was briefed about the salient feature of the budget and working of the University. The senate after reviewing the budget approved the annual budget for Fiscal Year 2017-18.

While addressing the meeting, Governor instructed that administration of Bannu University should consult the plans of Higher Education Commission in promoting research based education; moreover faculty members of university should be included in research based projects as well.

Governor also urged that budget should be according to annual work and strategic plan.
