“Wave of terrorism strikes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in early 2024”

PESHAWAR: In a tragic series of events, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has witnessed 19 terrorist incidents until January 16, 2024.

These incidents have resulted in the martyrdom of 13 police officers and injuries to 37, while civilians have suffered 10 fatalities and 9 injuries. Additionally, a crackdown against terrorists in various regions of the province has led to the elimination of 10 militants, with several others sustaining injuries.

Amidst these challenges, the province is gearing up for general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024. The escalation of terrorist activities has put the police force under increased scrutiny as they work tirelessly to ensure security during this critical time.

Following the arrival of Army Chief Asim Munir counter-terrorism crackdowns have been initiated not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also in Balochistan. The operations have dealt significant blows to terrorist networks, causing substantial losses among their ranks.

Furthermore, criminal elements infiltrating from Afghanistan into Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have added to the complexity of the security situation.

It is worth noting that in the year 2023 alone, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witnessed the sacrifice of 184 police officers, with over 400 others sustaining injuries. The security forces, however, succeeded in eliminating 290 terrorists during the same period.
Amidst the challenging security environment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the efforts of the Pakistan Army have stood out in the fight against terrorism. The recent surge in terrorist activities has not deterred the armed forces, who, under the leadership of Army Chief, have launched proactive measures to counter the threat.

The ongoing crackdowns, not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also in Balochistan, have demonstrated the Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism. The decisive actions have resulted in significant losses for terrorist organizations, showcasing the resilience and determination of the Pakistani military.
