KANDAHAR: Two Afghan Air Force pilots were slightly wounded after an MD-530 helicopter crash-landed in Kandahar Airfield, the Ministry of Defense said Wednesday.

According to a statement released by Ministry of Defense, the incident took place at around 6:45pm local time.

The statement further added that the helicopter had returned from a training mission and crashed-landed due to a technical issue. The Afghan Air Force uses MD-530F Warrior helicopters to provide close-air support to the Afghan ground forces.

This comes as a coalition unmanned aerial vehicle also crashed after experiencing engine failure in southern Helmand province earlier Wednesday. “One of our unmanned aircraft experienced engine failure and crashed in Helmand province Wednesday. We are working to recover it,” informed military sources said. (Khaama Press)
