KABUL (Pajhwok): Three senior Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials including the counterterrorism department head at the ministry have been sacked and replaced, an official said on Thursday.
Nasrat Rahimi, MoI deputy spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Gen. Janan Barakzai, first deputy interior minister, Gen. Akhtar Mohammad Ibrahimi, deputy interior minister for security and Gen. Najib Aman, the counter terrorism section head had been replaced.
The generals have been replaced with Abdul Saboor Qanay as first deputy interior minister, Khushal Sadat as deputy interior minister for security and Maher Yaqubi as head of the counterterrorism department of the ministry.
The appointments were part of reforms and the new officials would be soon introduced to the ministry, Rahimi concluded.
