CJP censures DIG for seeking ‘undue favour’ through his son-in-law: CJP Mian Saqib Nisar came down hard on DIG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar for approaching his son-in-law to seek undue favour in a case.

The chief justice was hearing a matter pertaining to the custody of the police officer’s children at the apex court’s Lahore registry.

The CJP expressed extreme displeasure at the DIG for asking his son-in-law Khalid Rehman to approach him for undue favour in the matter. He summoned Rehm-an to explain his position.

“How dare you approach me for favour through my son-in-law?” the chief justice asked the DIG. “I am on the path of Jihad while you tried to approach me for favour,” he continued.

The police officer offered an unconditional apology, to which Justice Nisar asked him to disclose the name of the person who advised him to gain a favour in the case.

Later, the chief justice’s son-in-law appeared before the court.

Rehman told the court that the police chief, who is currently fighting a custody case for his children against his ex-wife, sought his favour pertaining to the case.

“DIG Dogar wants the name of his ex-wife and children to stay in Exit Control List (ECL),” Rehman told the court.

Subsequently, the DIG and son-in-law submitted an unconditional apology to the court. The CJP then ordered that further proceedings will be held in his chambers.

The CJP, however, made it clear to Rehman that he was his son at home but he was standing before the chief justice.
