CM in disguise catches venal officials

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan Monday paid a surprise visit in disguise to the Deputy Commissioner office and suspended two employees for taking bribes.

The Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, in disguise, stood among the common people and kept reviewing the official dealing among the officials, employees of DC office Peshawar.

Mahmood Khan, wearing masks and a white cap, visited the Weapon License branch and caught the clerks and other staff red-handed taking bribes.

He found that license clerks and other staff were charging people Rs1000 while the fee for the license was Rs300.

The Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, on the spot, announced the formation of an inquiry committee for a full inquiry into the matter by suspending two officials.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that it is clear to all institutions and departments that corruption will not be tolerated.

“I will go among the people and keep reviewing the dealings,” adding “No one will be forgiven,” Mahmood Khan asserted.
