DABS establishes department to attract investment

KABUL (TOLOnews): Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) has established the Investment Attraction Department in order to increase investment in the electricity sector.
The spokesperson of this organization told TOLOnews that they provide facilities to investors and domestic and foreign companies to invest in the electricity sector in the country.
Some economic analysts said that Afghanistan has many water resources and investment in the electricity sector will also be effective in economic growth.
“At DABS, we have created a department under the title of Investment Attraction Department, the duties of this department are to make regular plans for investors in the electricity generation sector in different parts of the country,” said Hekmatullah Maiwandi, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) spokesman.
Meanwhile, the former head of DABS said that for more investment in the electricity sector, it is necessary for the Islamic Emirate to provide facilities to the investors first.
“Afghanistan’s electricity problems in the current situation is because there is no donor, there is no attention from the international community, and the government itself does not have money, the only solution is the private sector is to solve the current electricity problem, without the cooperation of the private sector, it is impossible for the Ministry of Energy and Water or for DABS to solve the electricity problems soon,” said Amanullah Ghaleb, former head of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS).
“It is clear that Afghanistan has reached self-sufficiency in terms of internal sources of electricity production. We have enough water. If attention is paid to dams to generate electricity, we do not need such sources from other countries in this sector. The only thing that remains is technical matters and it will also be solved if some countries cooperate with Afghanistan,” said Shaker Yaqubi, an economic analyst.
Meanwhile, nearly 20 days ago, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) said that the contract for the remaining work of the 500 KV electricity transmission project of Turkmenistan from Sheberghan-Dashte Alwan of Baghlan Province was signed between the Islamic Emirate and a private company.
