Displaying of PTI’s flag on health’s card: PHC directs to submit comments

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court comprising of Justice Shakeel Ahmad and Justice Arshad Ali directed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to submit comments in writ against displaying Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf flag on Health Cards, on Monday.

The writ petition had filed by Wahid Khan Khalil Advocate while Tariq Afridi Advocate as nominated as counsel in the case for PHC and Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary health, Health’s minister and State Life Insurance Corporation Pakistan are made respondents.

The writ petition stating that national may display on Health Card because PTI’s flag is using political narrative while the facility has been provided to public from public exchequer.

The writ petition further added that the Health Card is displayed as that self-projection, putting oneself or a specific political party, directly or indirectly, in a position of advantage, or to gain benefit at the expense of public funds is illegal and ultra vires exercise of powers. The writ further prayed that the respondents may kindly be restrained till disposal of this petition from printing the flag or picture of a political party/ PTI on Sehat Insaf Cards funded by the state.

The divisional bench PHC directed respondents including health’s minister, chief secretary to submit comments and adjourned further hearing 8 March.
