Federal minister Ahsan visits Malakand University

TIMERGARA: Federal minister for planning, development and interior Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday said the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz government had gifted the nation with CPEC, power generating units and got rid of terrorism, power load shedding and inflation.

He was addressing a ground breaking ceremony of academic block, student’s teachers’ center and examination center at University of Malakand Chakdara in Lower Dir. The UoM vice chancellor Prof Dr Gul Zaman briefed the minister about the varsity achievements and future planning. He said these projects would cost Rs 300 million. The minister said that hurdles were created in the way of progress and development since 2013.

He said terrorism was on its peak in Pakistan in 2013 and no one seemed ready for investment here. He said the PML N put the country on the path of progress and development but some elements always created hurdles. “Pakistan needs march toward economic growth instead of long marches and dhrnas,” Ahsan Iqbal said, adding the country needed political and economical stability. He said that 4 Es, energy, eradication of terrorism, economy and education were the government priorities.

He said that universities should be the centers of learning and research instead of degrees distribution centers. The minister also distributed research productivity awards among researchers of the varsity. MNA Dr Ibadullah, vice chancellor Abbotabad University Prof Dr Iftikhar, VC Swat University Dr Jamal Khattak, local lawmakers and area elders attended the function.
