RAWALPINDI: Funeral prayer of 14 Pakistan Army personnel who were martyred in a terror attack in Gwadar yesterday has been offered. Senior army officers and jawans attended the funeral. The martyred army personnel will be laid to rest in their ancestral towns and cities with full military honour.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists had attacked two vehicles, carrying security forces’ personnel, while they were on their way from Pasni to Ormara in Gwadar district, resulting in the martyrdom of 14 army jawans. The ISPR has expressed the resolve to eliminate the scourge of terrorism from the country by bringing perpetrators of crimes like these to justice.

The country’s political leadership, too, has strongly condemned attack by militants on security forces. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar said that the entire nation was proud of its martyrs. Former president Asif Ali Zardari too condemned the incident in strongest possible terms, saying there was a need to eliminate hatred and avenge the killings of army personnel.

While former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said that such attacks could not dampen the spirits of the people of Pakistan. “We will never allow terrorists to succeed in their designs,” he vowed. Former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the war against terrorism would continue until last terrorist was eliminated.
