Government has full confidence in Azmat Saeed Sheikh: Shibli

ISLAMABAD: PTI government will move Open Ballot Poll Bill for upcoming Senate Election very soon, to visualize who will oppose the bill and do not want transparency in the system. It was underlined by the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcast Senator Shibli Faraz in a new conference in Islamabad today.

He noted that it is an open secret that votes have been purchased in Senate Election in the past and PTI want to end this practice.

He said that today Cabinet meeting decided to move the bill on open ballot poll for upcoming Senate Election very soon. He further said that the government brought the matter in Supreme Court to seek guidance in the case and interpretation of the constitution. He went on grilling the opposition while saying that during voting on the open ballot poll, the public will be able to see, who does not want improvement in the system.

While answering the question regarding rejection of head of the broad sheet Inquiry Commission by opposition, he said the government has full confidence in Justice (Retired) Azmat Saeed Sheikh. He is a competent and experienced person.

During briefing, Shibli hinted to include other issues such as Saray Palace (Mansion in UK allegedly own by PPP leadership) and other cases with in Commission’s mandate and it will encompass the issues spread over last 20 years.

Shibli also briefed the media on government’s strategy to get loan through Sakook bonds, a loan offering instrument of Islamic Banking with least interest strings. He also shared hurriedly, the details of loan grab by the government over last two and half years. He accepted that the total increase of loan in PTI rule is about Rs. 11 trillion.
