ICT failed to control Friday congregation

ISLAMABAD: The capital administration of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) failed to implement the precautionary measures in federal capital regarding the covid-19 outbreak as around 80% mosques didn’t followed the directives of the administration as Friday congregations were seen, The Frontier Post has learnt.

According to the SOPS formed by the deputy commissioner office Islamabad only staff of the mosque (not more than 5 members) are allowed to perform Friday congregation but these directives were ruined by the mosque administration as no precautionary measures was adopted including social distancing in the mosque.

Adnan a resident of the G-9/3 sector Bilal Market told The Frontier Post that in Masjid-Farooq Azam more than 200 people performed Friday congregation and the imam directed to all that no distancing are allowed according to laws of Islam while performing prayers and ordered to stand close to each other.

It’s pertained to mentioned here that limiting of the Friday congregation was opposed by a 53 members body in Islamabad and added that they will arrange hand sanitizers, soups as well will adopt social distancing according the agenda issued to media but the investigation done by Frontier Post revealed that no arrangement was done by the mosque administration inside the mosque during Friday congregation.

Shah Alam who performed the Friday prayer at Lal Masjid Islamabad told The Frontier Post that more than 700 people attended Friday congregation inside the mosque but there were no precautionary measure adopted by the mosque administration according the promise they made during last meeting and ensured the government that they will arrange all. He added that mosque was overcrowded on this Friday as well but no social distancing was observed inside the mosque.

It should be noted here that on Friday the tally of total infection from the coronavirus reached to 154 in federal capital Islamabad while more than 09 cases were reported in past 24 hours of new infection from the deadly virus.
