IEA welcomes World Bank report released

KABUL (Ariana News): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on Tuesday commented on the World Bank’s report on the country’s economic situation saying it “acknowledges and appreciates the accurate portrayal of facts presented in the report.”
The report was issued on August 31 and highlighted positive developments in Afghanistan.
According to a statement issued by the office of the deputy prime minister for economic affairs, the IEA said it believes that positive engagement from the international community, lifting of sanctions, and releasing frozen assets would facilitate comprehensive economic development, as well as progress in other areas.
The IEA called upon international organizations “to transparently share Afghanistan’s developments, allowing the world to comprehend the actual situation in the country and the strides being made. “Furthermore, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan requests the World Bank not only to disseminate factual information about Afghanistan but also to resume and complete the projects that were previously funded but remained unfinished,” statement read.
The World Bank report on Afghanistan’s economic situation, stated that the inflation rate had decreased, domestic food production had risen, and the value of the afghani against foreign currencies had strengthened.
The report also noted improved export and import sector which gave national revenue a boost.
