Karimi discusses economic relations with Beijing official

KABUL (TOLOnews): The Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate to China, Bilal Karimi, in a meeting with China’s Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, Liu Jinsong, discussed a range of topics including the expansion of economic relations, and the creation of trade facilities.
During the meeting, Liu Jinsong said that they are trying to encourage Chinese investors to invest in Afghanistan.
The Afghan Embassy in Beijing in a statement quoted Jinsong as saying that there is no problem in bilateral relations between Afghanistan and China and joint work is ongoing to strengthen them.
According to the statement, Karimi said the Wakhan Corridor is an important transit and trade route between the two countries, saying that investment opportunities have been provided for Chinese companies in different parts of Afghanistan.
“Liu Jinsong said during the meeting that the Islamic Emirate embassy’s activities in China have improved bilateral ties between the two nations. Jinsong said that he is working to encourage Chinese businesspeople to make investments in Afghanistan. He also expressed hope that an opportunity would be provided for extraction from Mes Aynak. Bilal Karimi said that now with the establishment of security in Afghanistan, the investment opportunity for foreigners has been provided more than before,” the Afghan Embassy in Beijing said on X.
“Many issues have been discussed, including security issues; there is security and stability in Afghanistan. Chinese investors and businessmen can come and visit Afghanistan with confidence. Business matters were also discussed, so that Afghan traders who transfer goods from China to Afghanistan and also from Afghanistan to China will be provided with more facilities on the way,” the Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said.
The ACCI asked the current government to provide investment opportunities, especially for Chinese investors, in the country.
“The closest and cheapest and the most convenient way is the Wakhan Corridor and we welcome it. We ask the Islamic Emirate and China that investment be made here,” said Khanjan Alkozi, a member of ACCI.
Some economists consider the expansion of relations between Beijing and Kabul, especially in the economic sectors, beneficial to the country.
“China is one of the influential countries in Afghanistan’s economy, and in addition to having a good impact on Afghanistan’s economy and playing a good role in trade, it can even play a good role in the region,” Qutbuddin Yaqoobi, an economist told TOLOnews.
Previously, the acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Attaullah Omari, in a meeting with the head of MCC China Company, pledged that he will cooperate with the company in the acquisition of land around Mes Aynak Logar and Hajigak Mines in Bamiyan.
