Locals come on roads against delimitation

F.P. Report

TIMERGARA: The Adenzai residents and political leadership on Tuesday announced to stage a sit-in on Chakdara road and march on Islamabad if the election commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed to include the Ouch union council in the proposed PK 14 constituency.

Hundreds of local residents and political workers from different parts of Adenzai staged a protest rally on main GT road at Gulabad here on the call of action committee. The protesters blocked the Chakdara Timergara road for some time.

Former minister of state and PPP leader Malik Azmat Khan, MPA Bakht Baidar Khan, PML-N’s Malik Jehan Zeb, Adenzai tehsil nazim Qamar Zaman, JI’s Sultanat Yar and others while addressing the protesters alleged the ECP had included the Ouch union council in PK 15 comprised of Timergara tehsil in the proposed delimitation of constituencies. They said that Ouch had been the head quarter of Adenzai tehsil for decades and without this union council the whole tehsil would be divided. They said the whole population of Adenzai had been rejecting the inclusion of Ouch union council in PK-15 and wanted to include it in PK-14.

The protesters threatened to even boycott the next general elections if their demand was not accepted. They also announced to stage a protest sit-in on main road at Chakdara and March on Islamabad against the ECP for not considering complaint of the people of Adenzai.

The Lower Dir district council and Jamaat-i-Islami have also presented suggestions to the ECP for delimitation of constituencies in the district. Other political parties have also rejected the changes in constituencies.
