Man injured by traffic policeman

PESHAWAR: A man was shot injured by a traffic policeman over wrong parking issue in a busy trading market located on Ashraf Road, however, the traders staged protest demonstration and blocked GT Road for traffic.

The protesters ended the protest after a successful negotiation with police officers and arrest of the traffic policeman who shot injured labour.

Eyewitnesses said that on Thursday morning a shopkeeper parked his car in wrong parking place and traffic cop tried to pick up the car with a lifter, the shopkeeper resisted and other traders also came out from their shops. An eyewitness said that the cop opened fire on traders. As result of firing a 28-year old labour received a bullet on his neck. Injured was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital.

After the firing incident, the traders blocked the road for all kind of traffic as a protest. Peshawarties are facing severe traffic jam across the city due to on-going project of BRT; however, traffic blockage of protesters completely jammed Peshawar roads.

Due to heavy traffic jam, Inspector General of Police Salah ud Din took notice of the incident and ordered CCPO Peshawar to initiate a transparent inquiry and send his the report within 24 hours.

After suspending the traffic policeman and negotiation with traders, the protesters were dispersed and open the road for traffic.
