NAB KP Board authorizes inquiries against officials

PESHAWAR: A meeting of the Regional Board of National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Brig (R) Farooq Naser Awan, Director General NAB (KP) in the chair here today authorized inquiries against Agency Surgeon, North Waziristan Agency, officers and officials of KP Economic Zones Development Company (KPEZDMC), Fata Secretariate, FDA regarding corruption, corrupt practices and misuse of authority.

The inquiry against Agency Surgeon NWA has been initiated for his alleged involvement in embezzlement of funds allocated for purchase of medicines worth Rs22.17 Million. Similarly inquiry against officers and officials of KPK Economic Zones Development & Management Company (KPEZDMC) have also been started for corruption & corrupt practices and misuse of authority.

The KPEZDMS officers and officials are likely to be charged for non-compliance with Public Sector Companies (Corporate Governance) Rules, 2013. They are further alleged misappropriation of public money through lavish expenditures, misuse of authority in illegal appointments and tempering tenders against KPPRA Rules.

The officers and officials of FATA Secetariat and FATA FDA are also to be netted for their alleged corruption and corrupt practice and misuse of authority. They are allegedly involved illegal appointment in different cadres without adopting codal formalities.

The Board recommended conversion of inquiry into investigation against Officers and Officials of Provincial Housing Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for approval of Chairman NAB. During the course of inquiry irregularities and illegalities were found in appointment in various cadres, the NAB Board observed.

Director General NAB (KP) Brig (R) Farooq Naser Awan requested general public to join hands with NAB (KP) for eradication of corruption from the Province. The meeting was attended by Directors, Additional Directors, Case Officers, Senior Legal Consultants and other concerned officers.
