Model Police Station in Mandani inaugurated

CHARSADDA: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Mardan Region, Mohammad Alam Shinwari has inaugurated the third Model Police Station established at the Mandani with the collaboration of United Nation Development Program (UNDP) on Thursday.

DIG Mardan Region Mohammad Alam Shinwari, UNDP director Mohammad Quraish Khan, DPO Zahoor Afridi, SP investigation Nazir Khan, several women police and senior police officials attended the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, DIG Mohammad Alam Shinwari said that the purpose of setting up the model police station was to ensure easy access victims of violence to law and justice. It has a separate section for women and women police would investigate all such cases involving women either when they were victims or accused.

He said it was the third independent police station in Charsadda where cases and investigation would be undertaken independently. In the past, he recalled, model police stations were only an extension of the regular police stations. He hoped that the new police station would provide immediate help public in distress.

UNDP Director Mohammad Qureish said to the ceremony, their organization would also provide legal assistance to the complainants using, adding that the organization was taking steps to set up more model police stations. Alam Shinwari visited to Dispute Resolution Councel Tangi and check the record of police Chawki Gandhieri and Chawki Shakoor, he expressed satisfaction to the performance of police.
