Monsoon rains have plays havoc in KP and Balochistan: Faisal

PESHAWAR: KP Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Sardar Faisal Amin Gandapur has said that the monsoon rains and floods have played havoc in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, but the presence of the federal government is not even symbolic in such critical situation, instead limited to verbal claims only.
Whom the provincial governments to complain then, he added. The provincial governments and the people, however, have stepped up to face this natural calamity head on, he maintained. During surprise visit to the flood-affected areas in Dera Ismail Khan till late in evening, the minister termed the prolong monsoon situation gloomy but appreciated the spirit of the affected people and local NGOs who are working round the clock side by side with the provincial government for the rehabilitation and relief of the victims.
Faisal Amin Gandapur assured the people that Chief Minister Mehmood Khan has taken notice of the alarming flood situation and clear instructions have been given to all departments and agencies to participate in relief operations and rehabilitation works. He said that unfortunately this time the monsoon rains have been more prolonged and the districts of Dera Ismail Khan, Tank and Chitral were the worst affected, but, he assured, the provincial government will not leave the victims alone and the relief and rehabilitation process will continue until the last affected family is duly helped compensated.
He said that medical teams have been deployed in all the flood-affected areas so that epidemics do not break out, while the scope of relief and rehabilitation is also being increased manifold.
He further assured that his government is deeply saddened by the loss of precious human lives and properties, but no effort will be spared in bringing relief and justice to the victims. He also saluted to the spirit of volunteers, NGOs and relief agencies who are busy day and night in the relief operations in the affected areas.
