Officials say Khost forest fire is out, locals say it continues

KABUL (Tolo News): The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) and the Ministry of Agriculture report that fires have been put out in the forests of Khost province. Ministry officials said the blaze did not cause any casualties but left financial losses.
“According to initial information, the fire was put out with the help of the people and departments in the provinces, as well as other friends. The fire has been put out and is now under control,” a spokesman for the Ministry of Disaster Management, Mohammad Nasim Haqqani, said. “Under the leadership of Mullah Baradar Akhund, the High Commission for Struggle was established, and a meeting was held, and it was decided that the Ministry of Agriculture, the Directorate Disaster Management, and these departments would work on joint plans to cover areas where there are forests,” Haqqani said, “regardless of the status of the fire, make sure that the basic equipment is provided.”
