Pakistan records 72 new coronavirus deaths, 3,669 cases in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: The so-called fourth wave of coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in Pakistan as many as 73 more people succumbed to coronavirus and 3,669 new cases emerged during the last 24 hours (Sunday), showed the data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday morning.

According to the statistics released by NCOC, after the addition of 72 new deaths, the toll has now surged to 24,478, which represents a ratio of 2.2 percent.

The positivity ratio of the coronavirus cases in Pakistan has reached 6.8 percent, as 3,669 new coronavirus cases emerged in the last 24 hours after conducting 53,644 tests. It takes the total cases tally to 1,102,079 that returned positive after conducting 16,902,015 total tests so far.

The number of active cases in the country is 88,588 with 4,787 patients in critical condition.

There were 2,218 more recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours as the number of total recovered cases reached 989,013 with an 89.7% recovery rate.

Punjab

Punjab, the most populous province of the country, has reported 1,145 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 372,750 with 21,266 active cases. In Punjab, 25 more patients died of coronavirus as the death toll reached 11,372. With 731 new recoveries, 340,112 patients have recovered from the virus in Punjab so far.

Sindh

Sindh has recorded 1,399 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally to 412,165 with 47,666 active cases. With 26 new deaths related to the deadly disease, the death toll in Sindh reached 6,439. With 425 new recoveries, 358,060 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 428 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 152,625 with 6,916 active cases. The province reported 14 new virus-related deaths as the death toll reached 4,668. With 291 new recoveries, 141,041 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Balochistan

Balochistan has recorded another 27 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 31,583 with 817 active cases. The province reported one new death as the death toll reaches 335. With 110 new recoveries, 30,431 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Islamabad

Islamabad has recorded 324 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 94,108 with 5,821 active cases. With 4 new deaths reported in the Federal Capital, the death toll reaches 834. With 414 new recoveries, the number of recovered patients is 87,453 in the federal capital so far.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir

Azad Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 265 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 29,452 with 5,086 active cases. With 2 new deaths reported, the death toll reaches 666. There were 217 new recoveries in the AJK as 23,700 patients have recovered so far from the virus.

Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 80 new cases during the last 24 hours, as the tally reached 9,396 with 1,016 active cases. With one new death reported in the province as the death toll reaches 164. There were 30 new recoveries as the number of patients recovered from the deadly disease reached 8,216.
