PHC stops receiving of quarter tariff

PESHAWAR: The two-member bench of Peshawar High Court comprising of Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Abdul Shakoor has stopped receiving of quarter tariff adjustment imposed by federal government and directed competent authorities to submit comments within 15 days, on Wednesday.
The counsel for petitioner Issac Ali Qazi Advocate informed PHC that federal government has imposed quarter tariff adjustment in electricity bill in 2019 which was challenged at PHC.
The writ petition was filed by Friends Glass limited, paramount paper mills and Mustehqam steel industries along with others seeking relief from quarter tariff adjustment.
The counsel informed that PHC had declared quarter tariff void and sent the matter National Electricity and Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) but NEPRA granted decision against the petitioner.
The counsel for petitioner Issac Ali Qazi advocate further informed that NEPRA had only provided recommendation to government but federation had started recovery and neglected implementation of recommendation of NEPRA.
The counsel informed that notification regarding quarter tariff adjustment is still not notified so, it is illegal.
The divisional bench of PHC has stopped receiving of quarter tariff and directed competent authorities to submit comments within 15 days.
