Polling ends for by-election on Karachi PS-94 seat

KARACHI: The polling time has ended for the by-election on Karachi’s PS-94 seat which fell vacant after the death of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) MPA Muhammad Wajahat.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, there are 246,449 registered voters in the constituency with 149 polling stations set up for voters.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have fielded Muhammad Ashraf Jabbar while MQM-P’s Syed Hashim Raza is also in the running. 

Javed Sheikh of Pakistan Peoples Party, Muhammad Irfan Waheed of Pak Sarzameen Party and Muttahida Majlis–e–Amal’s Muhammad Aslam Pervez Abbasi are also in the running.

The Sindh government has made elaborate security arrangements to conduct polling in a peaceful and transparent manner.

Polling for the by-election started at 8am and will continue until 5pm on Sunday.
