PTI only party that could replace ruling JI: Speaker

F.P. Report

TIMERGARA:  The Pakistan Tehrek Insaf Lower Dir workers on Sunday announced besieging houses of party candidates contesting the next general election as independent candidates. The announcement was made during a workers’ convention held at the Timergara rest house ground here with former district president Malik Bashir Khan in the chair.

Party workers from Adenzai, talash, Timergara, Khall, Maidan and Samar Bagh with former tehsil and union councils’ office bearers attended the event.

Addressing the function Bashir Khan, PTI former district president Fakhr uz Zaman, retired district police officer Shafiullah Khan, former tehsil president Zakirullah, Syed Alam Shah alias Thany Khan and others asked party workers to discourage elements who wanted to weaken the party.

The speakers said that PTI was the only party that could beat and replace the ruling Jamaat-i-Islami in Dir. “After the merger of Dir state in Pakistan, the JI has reigned the district since 1970,” Bashir Khan said, adding despite its long rule the JI did nothing for welfare and development of common people. He admitted that there had been no signs of ‘change’ in Dir, no change in ‘thana’ culture as the JI had been doing traditional politics of posting, transfer and exploiting masses. About party tickets, he said the PTI parliamentary board would issue tickets to candidates. The district president, he said was not entitled to issue tickets.

The workers asked the PTI leadership to end internal differences among local leadership well before the next elections. They announced with one voice to besiege houses of those candidates who contested next general election as independent candidates.

About 600 party workers though attended the convention yet the Ali Shah Mishwani group did not showed up.

A similar convention some days ago had announced Mr Ali Shah as party district president for Lower Dir however Mr Bashir group had rejected his election.

The PTI regional president Malakand division and provincial minister Mahmood Khan on Jan, 01 this year had dissolved all the cabinets in Lower Dir but so far new cabinets have not been notified.
