HERAT (TOLOnews): Fifty houses in a quake-affected village in Kushk/Rabat-e-Sangi district of Herat province have been opened for occupants.
These houses were built for the earthquake victims in forty days.
Ahmadullah Muttaqi, head of Herat’s information and culture department, said: “These houses were built in a standard way as the Islamic Emirate promised to build them within a month to solve the main problems of these people.”
“They are resistant because there were earthquakes in the beginning when the work of these buildings was going on, but no problems occurred,” said Ghulam Mahboob Alizada, head of the construction company.
According to the reports, each house has 2 rooms and a small hallway, which cost 200,000 afghani.
Fatema, who was living under tents with her 6 family members after the earthquake, told TOLOnews: “The houses that have been built have nothing, neither a toilet, nor a kitchen, nor a bathroom, and we don’t have any things to spend time inside these houses, neither carpets nor dishes.”
A number of earthquake victims said that the lack of toilet, kitchen and implements are still one of their main problems.
“One house for a 10-member family is really hard because single boys and girls are also among them,” said Faqir Ahmad, a resident of Kushk/Rabat-e-Sangi of Herat province.
“It is a house and it has neither a washroom nor a kitchen. In these conditions, life is still difficult,” said Ghulam Mahiudddin, a resident of Kushk district of Herat province.
Based on the statistics of local institutions in Herat, 3,666 houses are being built in the quake-affected villages of this province.
The construction of some houses has been completed and hundreds of other houses are expected to be put into operation in the coming days.
