Returned refugees from Pakistan say they were deprived of schooling

KABUL (Agencies): A number of families who have recently entered the country through Torkham crossing say that the government of Pakistan did not allow their children to go to school and most children and teenagers have been deprived of education.
These families want the caretaker government to provide education for their children in addition to providing other facilities.
“They did not allow our children to go to school or to be educated and they do not pay attention to refugees,” said Wakil Ahmad, a deported refugee.
These children and teenagers who were expelled from Pakistan and returned to the country asked the caretaker government to provide them with education opportunities.
“We didn’t study any lessons and were only busy with our work and we didn’t have money to go to school. There we had to pay for school and it was not free,” said Jamaludddin, a deported child from Pakistan. “There were free schools, but they didn’t enroll us in them. I studied up to the fifth grade, and then we were busy with our work,” said Ramazan Khan, a child.
“I want the Taliban to arrange government schools in Afghanistan as much as possible. There are many poor people in Afghanistan that want to study and work,” said Usman Khan, a deported child. The Acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation said that they formed a commission to deal with the challenges of the refugees deported from Pakistan and this commission will deal with their challenges.
“To deal with the challenges of the refugees, a commission has been formed that will solve all the problems and challenges of these refugees based on the plan that has been developed,” said Khalil Rahman Haqqani, acting minister for refugees and repatriations.
Based on the information of the local officials of Nangarhar, after the announcement of the deadline by the interim government of Pakistan to deport illegal refugees, about 55 ,000 families have entered the country through the Torkham crossing and thousands of other families are waiting to enter from the other side.
