F.P. Report

LAHORE: Several students were injured in the clash between the two students groups over a cultural event at the Punjab University early Monday morning.

University administration told media that a student group attacked another when they were in their preparations for Pioneer festival in the Electrical Engineering department.

Later both the groups were seen attacking each other with batons and pelting bricks. One students group also torched a room inside the Electrical department and broke a number of car windows parked in the varsity’s premises.

The administration called the police after the situation was worsened and they disperse the student immediately.

Punjab University Vice Chancellor has taken notice of the clash. Commenting on the incident, he said that the research lab was vandalized during the clash, and promised to take strict action against the students responsible for the incident.

The administration has barred access of media to the university.

Earlier on March 21 last year, as many as 18 students were left wounded due to a clash between rival student groups in the same university.
