Supreme Court disposes of contempt plea against Justice Qazi Isa

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday disposed of a contempt petition against Justice Qazi Faez Isa after the withdrawal of the plea.

Petitioner advocate Riaz Haneef Rahi withdrew the contempt plea against Justice Isa who will become next chief justice of Pakistan after the retirement of incumbent CJP Umar Ata Bandial in September this year.

Chief Justice Bandial held an in-chamber proceedings on Mr Rahi’s petition. He disposed of the plea after its withdrawal by the petitioner.

Advocate Rahi filed a contempt petition against Justice Isa in the audio leaks commission case.

It bears mentioning that Justice Isa was heading the commission formed by the federal government to probe the purported audio tapes involving judges and bureaucrats.
