Tehran does not support IEA opponents: Envoy

KABUL (Ariana News): Hassan Kazemi Qomi, Iran’s Ambassador and Special Representative to Afghanistan, stated in a meeting with the Deputy Political Chief of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) that Iran does not support opponents of the current government in Kabul.
The meeting between Iran’s ambassador and Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Deputy Political Chief of the Taliban, took place on Monday night.
According to a newsletter issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, citing Iran’s ambassador, it is stated that the foreign policy of Iran towards the Islamic Emirate is based on cooperation, and numerous agreements have been signed between the two countries.
The Iranian ambassador stated in the meeting with Mawlawi Abdul Kabir that his country has signed treaties with Afghanistan in the areas of trade, agriculture, electricity, and mines, and is ready for cooperation in other sectors as well.
According to Qomi, Iran wants the regional transit sector to grow in order to help boost the economic situation of regional countries.
The Iranian ambassador reiterated that his country does not support the opponents of the Islamic Emirate but is making efforts for Afghanistan to be part of constructive cooperation.
He emphasized that the groups and circles that sow discord and hypocrisy between Iran and Afghanistan will never succeed.
On the other hand, the Deputy Political Chief of the IEA, mentioned the recent attack in the Iranian city of Kerman. He said Daesh was a common enemy of Afghanistan and Iran, and emphasized that its goal is to destabilize the region and kill innocent people.
Kabir in turn stated that the IEA’s policy is clear, and no one, including Iran, will be threatened by Afghanistan.
