Tik Tok immoral contents case: PTA blocks 9.8m contents, PHC told

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has deleted 9.8 Million immoral contents and seven lac twenty thousand accounts from Tik Tok app after directions of Peshawar High Court.
This was told to PHC during hearing regarding sharing of immoral and unethical contents from the platform of social media app Tik Tok.
PTA legal advisor Jahanzeb Mehsud, Director Practical Muhammad Farooq and Assistant Director PTA Jawad appeared before PHC in the case.
Director PTA informed PHC that 9.8 million videos and seven lac twenty thousand accounts have deleted through content moderators. He added that content moderators are increasing to ensure maximum filtration of contents.
Director Practical informed that on directions of PHC, Tik Tok has appointed focal person for Pakistan and now competent authorities are approaching at Islamabad.
The legal advisor informed that PHC has directed PTA to censor videos before uploading but it is not possible because PTA has approach international community for assistance but no such device has been develop till date.
During hearing Chief Justice PHC Justice Qaiser Rashid directed PTA continue your work and added that court does not wanting to close Tik Tok app which is using for entertainment but immoral contents are destroying our cultural values.
Chief Justice remarked that court’s aim to ensure filtration of immoral contents which is destroying our culture and society.
Additional Attorney General informed Peshawar High Court that federal government has made legislation in this regard which is legal protection to deleting and blocking of immoral contents.
The two member bench of Chief Justice PHC Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Attique Shah directed PTA to continue filtration work on immoral contents and adjourned further hearing.
