Traders observe shutter down in Bara against allegedly unjustified taxes

BARA: Business centers in Qamberabad, Bara,Bazaar suspended on Tuesday against allegedly unjustified taxes imposed by the Tehsil Municipal Officer.

It is to be mentioned here that on refusal of paying tax, traders’ leader Said Ayaz Wazir was put behind the bars following the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO), Bara.

The local shopkeepers and businessmen closed down their trading centers and refused to resume their trade till release of their leader and transfer of the TMO, who embezzled million rupees funds, collected from the Bazaar on a daily basis.

Addressing on the occasion leaders of the trading union, Bara said that they had suffered a lot in the last two in militancy and hardly resumed their businesses however the unfair  taxes implemented by the TMO, a deliberate effort to compel the traders to close their businesses. 

Instead of providing relief to the traders, the government imposes various kinds of taxes on the militancy hit trading centers of merged tribal districts, they lamented.

They went on that the Bara Bazaar lacked basic facilities like supply of electricity, potable water, poor drainage system, security, street lights etc.while the concerned authorities put into practice several taxes that looked illogical.

The traders demanded of the government to abolish taxes and adopt necessary initiatives for the relief and security of the local business community.
