Up-gradation of non-teaching staff: PHC directs to resolve matter

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court has directed government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to resolve issue of one step up-gradation to non-teaching cadre employees of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan within three months.

The counsel for petitioner Khalid-u-Rehman Advocate informed PHC that Standing Committee on Education at National Assembly in 2016 on recommendation federal education had granted one step up-gradation.

The counsel added that syndicate of AWKUM had approved up-gradation but Higher Education Commission has directed it is only announced for teaching cadre and withdrew notification issued in favor of non-teaching cadre employees.

The counsel informed that HEC has no jurisdiction in this regard because up-gradation is approved by syndicate committee. He added that if employee has been entitled a benefit then it may not be withdraw.

The petitioner had obtained status quo in this regard since 2016 from PHC and serving at their said post. PHC had disposed off the case and directed provincial government to resolve the issue within three months.
