KABUL (Khaama Press): The United States Department of State has announced its support for the United Nations resolution regarding appointing a UN Special Representative for Afghanistan.
Matthew Miller, the United States Department of State spokesperson, emphasized on Wednesday, January 3rd, that Afghanistan’s integration with the global community is possible if the country adheres to its international commitments. He viewed the United Nations Security Council resolution as a clear message to the Taliban administration, the people, and the world, signifying Afghanistan’s integration into the global community.
The United Nations Security Council adopted the resolution last Friday to increase engagement with the Taliban regime and Afghanistan, as well as to appoint a Special Representative for Afghanistan. It is worth noting that the UN Security Council resolution has faced a reaction from the Taliban administration, which has labelled it an “unnecessary” action.
Additionally, the spokesperson for the United States Department of State expressed concerns about the Taliban’s lack of willingness to establish an inclusive government and the repeal of restrictions against women and girls in Afghanistan, emphasizing that these decisions have caused “irreparable damage” to Afghan society.
