WSSCK completes three-days Eid special cleanliness operations

PESHAWAR: During three-days special cleanliness operations, the Water and Sanitation Services Company Kohat (WSSCK) has disposed of around 1825 tons of animal waste in 6 Urbans and KDAs of Kohat in an environment-friendly manner.
A press release issued here on Sunday stated that as many as 100 different vehicles including Suzuki mini tippers, garbage compactors, tractor trolleys, skip tractors, tractor shovels and excavators took part in the special cleanliness campaign during the three-days of Eid ul Azha.
In the special Eid cleanliness campaign, nearly 550 staff including administrative officers participated.
The special cleanliness campaign of Eidul Azha was formally inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Kohat Usman Ashraf and Chief Executive Officer of WSSCK Arif Rauf on the first day of the Eid.
The WSSCK in its jurisdiction areas has set up around 321 collection points and 25 transfer stations in its jurisdictional areas.
The public was already informed about this through social media and awareness campaigns.
Pamphlets and around 3000 thousand biodegradable bags were also distributed in the campaign.
During the Eid, Chief Executive Officer of WSSCK Arif Rauf, Deputy General Manager Tahir Arif, Manager Operations Shehbaz Khattak, Manager Media and Communication Asma Ali and Chief Inspector Muhammad Sohail were present on the field to monitor the cleanliness so that there should be no public complaints regarding cleanliness.
The WSSCK had successfully completed the cleaning operation by 11 PM on the first day of Eid.
The WSSCK Hotline Complaint Cell remained open on all three days of Eid from 8 AM to 12 PM and received 19 complaints regarding sanitation and 26 regarding water during Eid which were resolved on time.
During Eidul Azha, the water supply staff also remained on duty for three days and ensured uninterrupted supply of water.
In the three days of Eidul Azha, the sacrificial animal wastes were dumped into a pre-dug pit at the dumping site and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner after the operation was over on the third day of Eid.
After the end of the cleaning operation, all the collection points were washed with fennel and lime was also added there to prevent the spread of germs.
During Eid, the district administration also appreciated the performance of the institution.
The institution also received a lot of video messages from the public and the work of WSSC Kohat also got a lot of appreciation on social media.
