HERAT/KABUL: As many as 14 armed opponents were killed and 10 more wounded in separate incidents in various parts of the country, officials said on Sunday.
Afghan National Army (ANA) 207 Zafar military corps spokesman, Syed Aaqa told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that 24 Taliban gunmen suffered casualties in the past 24 hours.
Five Taliban fighters were killed and five more injured in clashes with security forces in Madagan and Tepa Sheran areas in Pusht-e-Rod district, he said. Nineteen improvised explosives devices were defused.
Eight Tlaiban fighters were killed and four more injured in Gunahkan and Nobahar areas of Pusht-e-Rod district, he said.
A Taliban fighter was killed and another sustained injuries in Kansak area of Bala Baluk district, he added.
Meanwhile, a defence ministry press release available with AIP stated that 17 armed opponents were killed and injured in Uruzgan, Ghazni, Paktika, Kandahar, Kunar, Baghlan, Badghis and Nangarhar provinces. Four suspects were arrested.
Similarly, the defence ministry said two ANA soldiers were killed and few more wounded. (AIP)
