PESHAWAR: The appointment of Chairman Special Technology Zone Authority (STZA) has been challenged in Peshawar High Court seeking to declare the recruitment null and void which is against the law.
The writ petition has been filed by Alamzeb Khan Advocate on behalf of Shafi Ullah Khan resident of Tahkal area of Peshawar. The writ further seeking to also declare that Capital Development Authority (CDA) has allotted 1200 Kanal land to STZA against the law and contract has also been granted on nepotism and illegally.
The chairman STZA Ameer Hashmi, Secretary Cabinet Division, Secretary Finance and Chairman Board of Revenue have respondent in the writ petition.
The writ petition stating that on 3 January 2021 an advertisement had issued in English daily Newspaper in which eligibility criteria for the post has been mention as Master in Business Administration, Management or Electrical Engineering along with 20 years.
The petition stated that on 4 January Ameer Hashmi as displayed as chairman on official website of STZA however, notification and press release was issued on in this regard on 8 January 2021.
The petition further elaborates that an interview letter had issued by current chairman STZA Ameer Hashmi to himself by stating that Ameer Hashmi to appear for appointment of Chairmanship of the authority which mean he is appointed himself on the post. The writ adds that government department has wasted millions of rupees by advertisement for the post in English newspaper.
The writ stating that competent authority neither constituted scrutiny committee nor shortlisting committee to scrutinize the applicants and it makes the procedure dubious.
The petition added that the Chairman STZA Ameer Hashmi have only 12 years of experience while criteria set as 20 years and also obtains bachelor degree while advertisement demanded for Master degree in the said the discipline.
The writ states that advertisement for construction of infrastructure and commercial building of STZA also violates Pakistan Procurement Regularity Authority rules and mega contract of Rs, Five billion has granted to small firm on nepotism.
The writ petition seeking to declare appointment of Chairman STZA null and stop him from performing duties till the decision of this writ petition. Likely the writ petition may be fixed for early hearing before court.
