‘Govt making all-out efforts to mainstream merged districts’

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister for Newly Merged Districts (NMDs), Industries, Commerce and Technical Education, Dr. Aamir Abdullah has said that the government is making all-out efforts to include the erstwhile Federal Administered Tribal Area (FATA) in mainstream of development and bring an end to their sense of deprivation.

He expressed these views during his visit to Ghalanai, district headquarters, , tribal district Mohmand on Friday.

On arrival at Ghalanai, the provincial minister was accorded warm welcome by the tribesmen while Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohamad gave him a detailed briefing about the completed and ongoing development projects in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister for newly merged districts, said that the issue of land records is being resolved through revenue department while efforts will be made to remove obstacles in granting mineral leases in district Mohmand while the issue of the construction of Mohmand-Bajaur main highway would be taken up with the finance department on priority basis.

He assured to play a role in granting the status of tourism zone to the tourist spots in district Mohmand and issued directives to concerned authorities to solve other problems including the supply of clean water in the district.

On this occasion, the minister will be apprised of health, education, marble industry and unsolved problems related to infrastructure, water and electricity, roads, police and other basic needs in the district.

Meanwhile, addressing a jirga of the tribal elders, elites, local bodies representatives and youth, the provincial minister expressed gratitude to Mohmand tribe for according traditional hospitality to him.

He directed the concerned authorities and district administration for immediate resolution of the various problems faced by the local people and on the public demand he directed the staff of the Department of Minerals to instead of Yakaghund provide their services in the district headquarters Ghalanai.

He also directed the concerned authorities to resume free transport facility for schools and colleges from Mohmand Dam.

On this occasion, the local tribal elders termed the visit of the caretaker minister as an important step in the development of the merged districts.

Meanwhile, the caretaker minister also participated in a walk organized in connections with Black Day against the illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir and atrocities of Indian security forces against Kashmiris brethren.
