Grand Jirga demands early arrest of Asmas’ murderer

Mardan: Grand Jirga demands of early arrest of accused as well as provision of financial and legal assistance to family members of 4-years old baby girl who was allegedly raped before murdered on January 13, of the current month.

In this regard, a Grand or Loya Jirga with district nazim Mardan Himayatullah Mayar advocate in the chair was held here on Saturday at the district council secretariat which was attended by political leaders, civil society members, media-persons and representatives of trading community.

Those who attended the meeting of Loya-Jirga were included district naib-nazim Asad Ali, PTI provincial lawmaker Iftikhar Ali Mashwani, PPP district general-secretary Aurangzib Khan, QWP leader Babar Yousafzai, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-f Habib Ahmad, Ex-MPA and ANP leader Shazia Aurangzib, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Pakistan provincial president Fayaz Khan, Jamaat-i-Islami leader Ata-u-Rahman advocate, Public Safety Commission Chairman Abdul Aziz Khan, president Markaz-i-Tanzim-i-Tajraan Ihsan Bacha and other elders of the district.

While issuing joint statement of Loya-Jirga, district nazim Himayatullah Mayar advocate claimed that all political parties and members of civil society of the district were on same page over the issue of ‘Asma’.

The grand-jirga had expressed great concern over non-arrest of accused in the case of Asma despite of passing 15-days of the occurrence of said incident. It demanded of both provincial and federal governments to include expert-officials of ISI and MI in investigation process of the case.

While expressing its dissatisfaction over the police investigation process, the participants of jirga  demanded of authorities concerned to establish a training institute working on scientific base in this connection.

On the occasion, district nazim Himayatullah Mayar welcomed the suo moto action of Supreme Court taken by chief justice of Pakistan in the case of minor girl victim Asma, adding that the Grand-Jirga would extend all kind of assistance to the upper court in this connection whenever it was required.

The Loya-jirga members not only demanded of quarters concerned to arrest perpetrators of the incident as soon as possible but also include sections of rape and terrorism in FIR registered in the case of innocent Asma.

It also stressed over the relevant officials to send blood samples of 208 suspects in the case to forensic laboratory, besides, it demanded for establishment of forensic laboratory in every division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Mr. Hiamayatullah Mayar, on the occasion, demanded for speedy legislations regarding protection of child rights, child abuse and violence against child.

At the meeting, PTI provincial assembly member Iftikhar Ali Mashwani claimed that the incumbent provincial government was going to provide all kind of financial and legal aid to heirs of minor Asma.

He also said that the PTI provincial government was seriously planning to take steps to stop happening of such-like incidents in future.
