KMU to host 4th national conference on medical journal

PESHAWAR: Two days 4th national conference of Medical Journal Editors organized jointly by (KMU) and Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) and 9th International Annual Health Research Conference organized by Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) are scheduled on 3-4 March and 5-7 March, 2018 respectively at multi purposes hall.

The theme of the PAME conference is “Visibility of Pakistani Journals in International Arena: A Challenge”. The two day conference of PAME will be attended by editors and editorial teams of medical journals published from Pakistan, authors, researches from all over the country will also participate in the conference. For Professionals workshop registration fee is Rs 1000 where as from Students a sum of Rs 500 will be charged. In the PAME conference medical experts will talk on various topics pertaining to writing and publishing health research articles in medical journals of well repute.

It is worth mentioning that PAME is a non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit organization whose mission is to support and promote medical journalism in Pakistan by fostering networking, education, discussion, and exchange of information and knowledge.

Whereas the annual health research conferences organized by KMU-ORIC has become an important milestone in the academic calendar of the KP province. This year once again, the university is going to organize its 9th health research conference with the theme of “research priorities in the SDG era” and the aim is to identify areas of need and reach a consensus among the stakeholders for the setting up of short and long-term research priorities for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The health research conference will include panel discussions, oral and poster presentations on topics in the fields of medical sciences (all specialties), dentistry, public health, nutrition, dietetics, environmental sciences and other activities to promote research culture among health professionals and students.

Objectives of the health research conference is to establish a forum for presentation, discussion and formulation of recommendations for issues in health research and health care in Pakistan generally and in KP specifically, to disseminate findings of health research undertaken in KP in the last one year, to provide an opportunity to (young & emerging) researchers to develop the capacity for preparing and presenting health research papers, establish a forum for dialogue with health research policy and decision–makers in Pakistan and KP, to establish links with expatriate Pakistani health professionals and researchers and to provide an opportunity for industry and academia interaction. Prizes will also be awarded in the concluding session of the conference for the best oral, poster and model presentations.
