Mardan lawyers boycott courts

MARDAN: Legal Fraternity of District Bar Association Mardan (DBA) here on Monday boycotted courts and observed a complete strike against the misstatement of District and Session Judge Mardan regarding the construction of new building of Judicial Complex near Mardan Jail building.

President of District Bar Association Mardan Islam Khan Wardag advocate and General Secretary Zar Bacha Khan advocate told that few weeks back, the District and Session Judge Mardan Subhan Khan Sher had held a meeting with office-bearers of District Bar Association Mardan and some other senior lawyers over construction of new judicial complex building near the area located in front of the new jail building.

They said that the district and session judge tried to convince them over the construction of judicial complex building near the new jail building. They said that the lawyers representatives unanimous rejected the government plan of constructing the judicial complex near the new jail building and apprised the district and session judge of the views.

They, however, said that later the district and session judge Subhan Khan Sher had sent minutes of the meeting to chief justice of Peshawar High Court and misguided him by giving misstatement regarding views of the legal fraternity of district Mardan and told him that they had agreed upon the government plan to construct the building of judicial complex near the new jail building.

They reminded , earlier, there was a dispute between the provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and lawyers of Mardan district over location of construction of judicial complex building.

However, the Mardan’ lawyers wanted that the new judicial complex building should be built over the old jail and court area while the provincial government wanted it to be built over the area located in front of the new jail building in Mardan, they added.
