Meher: KP govt committed for women empowerment

PESHAWAR: Eulogizing the reforms agenda of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led provincial government, the  newly elected Senator Dr. Meher Taj Roghani on Monday said her government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken numerous initiatives in various fields in order to bring out positive change.

She said this during a seminar held at College of Home Economics University of Peshawar (UoP) on eve of marking World Women Day. Principal of College of Home Economics UoP, Dr. Kaneez Fatima Haider, faculty members, male and female students and a number of other participants from varsity were also in attendance.

Dr. Meher Taj Roghani who was chief guest on the occasion in her address counted the unprecedented initiatives taken by PTI-led-provincial government for welfare and betterment of masses, saying that her government took drastic steps in education, health and social sector to facilitate general public. She claimed that KP government has introduced its first ever policy guidelines for empowerment of women in the province.

The police aims to ensure provision of way forward for development and prosperity of women in the province, Senator said and adding it (policy) will improve entire status of females in the province including socio-economic, political and legal empowerment. However, women empowerment is a key factor of human development and imperative to poverty elimination as well, she added.

Though, there is space for women politicians in PTI and  the reason why, provincial government is committed to continue its efforts for empowerment of women, she claimed. Regarding her government, she informed that it had made exemplary legislations in last few years as compared to other provinces in the country.

The women should come forward and take active part in political arena for eliminating deprivations of other females, she asked. As she also explained in details her political journey from joining PTI and then named as provincial minister, deputy speaker of provincial assembly and lastly elected as Senator on women seat.
