Establishment of Special Education Complex for visually impaired children announced

MARDAN: KP Chief Minister’s advisor announces Special Education Complex (SEC) for visually impaired boys, private institution visits for Hearing Impaired Individuals.

In a bid to prioritize education accessibility and inclusivity, the Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Mishaal Azam Yousafzai has unveiled plans for a groundbreaking initiative aimed at providing educational facilities to visually impaired boys up to the metric level. The announcement was made during his visit to the Special Education Complex for Boys in Mardan.

During his visit, Advisor Mishaal Azam Yousafzai emphasized the importance of catering to the educational needs of visually impaired children by establishing a specialized educational complex dedicated to their advancement. This initiative is set to commence next year and aims to facilitate visually impaired children in continuing their education seamlessly up to the metric level. Advisor Yousafzai stressed the significance of ensuring that no child is left behind in their pursuit of education, particularly those with visual impairments.

Furthermore, Advisor Yousafzai, in his capacity as the Advisor for Zakat and Ushr, Social Welfare, Women’s Empowerment, and Special Education, highlighted efforts to address staff shortages in private educational institutions. By bolstering staff recruitment, these institutions are poised to enhance their operational efficiency, ultimately benefiting a greater number of students. As part of this endeavor, plans were announced to enroll visually impaired students from the current academic year’s fifth grade into the Special Education Complex in Peshawar, thus minimizing disruptions to their educational journey.

The Advisor’s initiatives were unveiled during his visit to the Special Education Complex for Boys, where he chaired a meeting attended by officials including Director Social Welfare, District Officer Social Welfare Jamal Shah, and representatives from the Special Education Complex. Deputy Director Aniq Ahsan provided a briefing on the institution’s establishment, detailing its inception in 1987 and subsequent expansion to encompass vocational training centers and institutes across 24 acres of land.

In addition to addressing the challenges faced by the Special Education Complex, Advisor Mishaal Azam Yousafzai embarked on a visit to a private institution catering to the hearing impaired. Here, he lauded the institution’s commitment to providing education and vocational training to hearing impaired individuals since its establishment in 1985. Advisor Yousafzai commended the institution’s efforts and assured full support for its endeavors, underscoring the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in education across KP.
